Convert Epicor Classic Screens to Kinetic — Without Disrupting Production

Epicor retired the Smart Client with the Kinetic 2026.1 release. Classic screens, embedded C# customizations, and legacy dashboards no longer carry forward on their own. Cyprus Meridian converts them into upgrade-safe Kinetic browser UX equivalents — screen by screen, wave by wave, with your daily operations protected throughout.

Epicor Classic to Kinetic Screen Conversion

The Smart Client is retired. With Epicor Kinetic 2026.1, Classic screens are gone and the browser UX is the only interface — and every unconverted customization is now a liability. We convert Classic screens, uplift C# customizations into Application Studio, and get your team fully productive in the Kinetic browser experience.

Classic Screen to Kinetic Conversion

We convert Epicor Classic screens to the Kinetic browser UX form by form — rebuilding layouts, custom fields, and event logic in Application Studio so every uplifted screen is upgrade-safe. Whether you have a handful of personalized forms or hundreds of layered customizations, each conversion is tested against your live workflows before cutover.

  • Classic customization inventory and complexity scoring
  • Application Studio layers rebuilt to match how your team actually works
  • Side-by-side UAT — Classic vs. Kinetic — before every cutover

Classic to Kinetic — Questions We Hear Every Week

No. With the Kinetic 2026.1 release, Epicor retired the Smart Client and Classic forms — the browser UX is now the only supported interface. SaaS customers are moved automatically at upgrade; on-premise customers lose Classic the moment they upgrade to 2026.1. Any unconverted customizations effectively disappear from users’ reach, which is why a structured screen conversion plan matters now.

What Changed With the Epicor Classic UI Sunset

For two decades, Epicor users worked in the Windows-based Smart Client — the “Classic” screens. That era ended in May 2026. Beginning with Kinetic 2026.1, Epicor no longer ships a Smart Client deployment: every user, on every module, works through the browser-based Kinetic UX. Version 2025.2 was the final release to include Classic forms, and administrative tools like DMT, Advanced Print Routing, and the SDK moved into a separate Power Tools Client.

For companies on Kinetic SaaS, this was a hard cutover — Classic screens simply stopped being available at upgrade. For on-premise environments, the deadline arrives the moment you take 2026.1 or later. Either way, the operational question is the same: what happens to the customizations, personalizations, dashboards, and embedded C# logic your teams have depended on for years?

Why Classic Customizations Don’t Just “Convert”

Epicor’s upgrade tooling automatically converts simple Classic customizations — moved fields, basic layout changes — into Application Studio layers. But the customizations that matter most usually aren’t simple. Embedded C# code does not run in Kinetic browser forms at all. Complex event logic, multi-tab trackers, updatable dashboards, and layered personalizations built up over many versions have to be deliberately re-engineered: screen logic into event-driven Application Studio actions, and business rules into Epicor Functions and BPMs where they belong — server-side, documented, and upgrade-resistant.

Done well, this is a modernization opportunity rather than a forced rewrite. The conversion is the right moment to retire dead customizations, simplify screens your teams have outgrown, and eliminate the upgrade-breaking technical debt that made every Epicor release a project of its own.

How Cyprus Meridian Runs a Classic to Kinetic Conversion

We start with a full inventory: every Classic customization, dashboard, and personalization in your environment, scored for complexity and mapped to actual usage by department. From there we build a wave-based conversion plan — the screens your customer service, purchasing, production, shipping, and finance teams touch daily convert first, each validated side-by-side against its Classic counterpart before cutover. Training and hypercare follow each wave, so adoption keeps pace with conversion and the browser UX becomes an upgrade your users feel, not one they fight.

As independent consultants who work in Epicor Kinetic, Application Studio, BAQs, BPMs, and Epicor Functions every day — across discrete manufacturing, distribution, and multi-site environments — we deliver conversions that hold up under real production load, not demo conditions. If your team is still partly on Classic, or your last upgrade left broken customizations behind, a short assessment will tell you exactly where you stand and what the path forward looks like.
